People have been using tools to make difficult jobs easier since before the start of recorded history. Early Years

Modern farm work isn’t easy by any means, but things were even more arduous back in the day. The need to increase yields led to the development of basic tools such as sickle, hoes, and plows. While these tools might seem primitive by our standards, they helped make farming more efficient and lead to later advances. 

Animal Labor 

The next big technological leap in the development of modern farm equipment was animal domestication. Animals such as draft horses and oxen were many times stronger than humans, and could do more work in a day than a team of human laborers could in a week. Unfortunately, these animals were still vulnerable to disease and fatigue, and needed to be fed using a portion of the farmer’s yield. 

Mechanization

As people spread across the world, they developed new tools and strategies to deal with the problems they encountered. Farm equipment became more and more complex. The last century has seen animal labor largely replaced by mechanized equipment. Machines never get tired and can do even more work than draft animals without the need for food.
